Most of us can relate to trying to get things done with no budget or a low budget, especially in the Data Governance world. Colette and Rose will share their experiences in building a Data Governance program under these familiar circumstances. Both come from varied backgrounds and have different experience levels, yet realize they come across many of the same problems. From the financial industry, the post-secondary education world, and healthcare, they have developed different strategies on how to solve these issues. Learn about the struggles they have encountered, how they overcame them, the tools they were able to use, and some tips and tricks - all within a limited budget. With experience in government, financial institutions, and industry, Colette specializes in building data governance programs from scratch in multi-disciplinary contexts, to help organizations maximize using data intentionally and to set the foundation for data-driven processes such as analytics, business intelligence, and AI/ML. Sheis a passionate advocate of data ethics, privacy-by-design, inclusion, and innovation.
Rose is passionate about people and data and creating strategies that utilize both to their highest potential. She continues to mature the Data Governance program by building out foundational initiatives such as metadata management, data literacy, and data security. She has recently moved into the role of Data Governance Engineer where she navigates how to break down silos, produces documentation that shows how the company adheres to HIPAA guidelines, and works at getting her colleagues excited about data.
